Black Tie Dinner
Volunteer Board Member (January 2017 - December 2025)
Black Tie Dinner is the largest LGBTQ+ non-profit fundraising dinner in the nation, raising and distributing millions of dollars to local LGBTQ+ organizations across North Texas.
Co-Chair
2023-2024
As Co-Chair, I demonstrated impactful leadership by spearheading transformative initiatives within the Board of Directors. Guiding the board with a strategic vision, I successfully facilitated the adoption of a new mission and vision statement, fostering a renewed sense of purpose. In partnership with other leaders, I led the adoption of the organization's first Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion statement. I enhanced efficiency through a strategic board reorganization and emboldened the team to explore innovative fundraising approaches. In 2023, our collective efforts yielded remarkable results, achieving a record-breaking total distribution of $1.73 Million. Additionally, for the first time in our 42-year history, we distributed more than $1 Million to our local beneficiaries.
I planned, organized, and executed two annual weekend board retreats. During this three-day retreat, we set the tone for the year, our goals as a board, and multiple committee breakouts and cross-collaboration discussions between committees. Planning included hotel and food accommodations for board members and partners, off-site dinners and activities, presentation preparation and delivery, and overall leadership and management, ensuring everything started and ended on time, and everyone’s voice was heard.
Co-Chair Elect
January 2022 - December 2022
During my year as Co-Chair Elect, I acted as an extension of all committees, helping out where needed to gain further knowledge of the full board, sponsorships, and beneficiaries. I also began to make plans of action for 2023 and beyond, working closely with a strategic planning firm to identify opportunities for meaningful change within the board organization and operation. Personally worked to bring in $60k+ in donations and new sponsorships. The total distribution in 2022 was $1.5 Million.
Board Governance Chair
January 2021 - December 2021
Oversaw and reshaped how the board of directors recruited new board members, casting a wider and more diverse net within the DFW community. I spearheaded new volunteer opportunities and general board mixers for those interested in joining the board to meet the current board members.
Sponsor Committee Chair
January 2019-June 2019
Worked with the Director of Development to create strategies and sponsor engagement plans to ensure the sponsors and underwriters of Black Tie Dinner receive successful brand exposure and activations at events. Networked to raise about $50,000 in cash and in-kind donations personally.
